5 Ways To Be The Best Dressed Mom At School Drop Off

No matter your work situation, most moms are guilty of showing up at school in jogging pants, hoodies and even pyjamas. Want to be the best dressed mom in the schoolyard, even at 8:30am, after pouring breakfast into your kids and wrestling them out the door? Follow these fool-proof tips:

  1. best dressed momBuy great coatsSeriously. If you live in Canada you know that we wear coats nine months out of the year. Having great coats means that you can wear those pyjamas underneath and still look great.
  2. Learn how to tie a scarfThere is a reason we love French style so muchthey wear scarves all the time! You should own at least one that looks like a piece of art you would want on your wall.
  3. Ask your hairdresser to teach you a five-minute hairstyleThe next time you head to the hairdresser, forgo the fancy blowout to have them teach you how to do a quick everyday hairstyle that you will be able to do yourself. Or buy a great hat. Either way, it doesn't matter how great the rest of your outfit is if your hair looks like you just woke up.
  4. Buy a pair of flats (not sneakers!) and a pair of slip-on flat bootsLet me start by saying that I love my sneakers and my Birkenstocks; however, I make sure that the rest of my outfit is really put together if I am wearing them. I don’t want us to have to worry about outfits here, I just want you to have easy tips for running out the door. This is why I encourage you to step up your outerwear and shoes,  so you don’t have to worry about the rest of your clothes.
  5. Mascara, concealer, blush and lipglossI am not the kind of person to tell someone to wear makeup. I really don’t think it is necessary for everyone, nor would I tell a person to wear it if they didn’t want to, but it definitely works for mr. If I'm tired or if I drank a sip of wine with each bite of chocolate the night before, a little concealer goes a long way. I did a five-minute makeup video with The Beauty Movement for my e-course and it honestly changed the way I thought about makeup. After 33 years of never putting on lipstick, I wear it everyday now. Actually reapplying it is my next goal!
